A Quick Little Update...and some pictures

So, just a quick update on life:

I’m almost midway through my second sophomore semester here at CofO, and loving every minute of it. This semester has been a BLAST. J

Haven’t been doing a whole lot of fun writing (or class writing, for that matter) but I think I’ve finally hit on something with a superhero story I’ve had sitting around for years…we’ll see where that leads.

We had Women’s Dorm Open House last night, the one night out of the semester when guys can come and visit our rooms. My roomie and I had an Alice in Wonderland slash Mad Tea Party theme, and it was a lot of fun. We had a contest, actually a two-fold contest: whoever could recite Jabberwocky, by Louis Carol, or who could build the tallest house of cards. A friend did the cards, and won the prize, and we didn’t think anyone would manage to recite Jabberwocky, but to our surprise and delight, another friend showed up halfway through the night, and out of the blue gave the best and most stirring rendition of the poem that I’ve ever heard. Voices, action, everything. Turns out, he took third with it in a recitation contest a while back—I felt bad that we’d only had the one prize! (LOL—it was a flamingo…you know, to play croquet with?)

After open house, we went to bed, only to be awakened by roaring sirens at about 1:00 in the morning. The housing staff herded us down to the basement, and we hid down there (packed like sardines in a can with 130ish girls in a space about five-by-thirty feet) while tornados tore through the area. No damage here, but the tourism district took some hard hits…it might be a tough summer for those in the business.

Looking forward to finding out if I’m in the library for the Summer Work Program, and if I’ll get to move dorms (more space would be sooooo nice…J) as well as spring break.

Well, that’s a bit of catching up anyway. Maybe I’ll have something more productive to say soon. J
